lyrics

Change the World words and lyrics by Mandalyn May

Lately, lately, I've been dreaming, dreaming up a new way of being me - 'cause I've been caught up, caught up in the feeling, of being lost inside this dream of what I'm s'posed to be, and
I've seen towers falling, pillars turned to dust and sand, it seems
all I've known before, well, it may never be again - so what the hell,

CHORUS
I'm gonna change the world, one step at a time - each day of my life I know that I am,
gonna change the world, one step at a time - each day of my life I know that I am,

breathing, breathing in the air that has been breathed by all who've walked before us on this beautiful blue green spinning ball, we've all been calling home, we share more than we know, so let’s grow
a Garden, put down roots and build communities of light and laughter we are holding space for beginning, embracing the ending of transnational corruption & corporate spending,
singing:

REPEAT CHORUS

BREAK

SPOKEN WORD SECTION
Now I’m not talking about going out and moving mountains
even though it turns out moving mountains is not that hard of a thing to do, you know? You just wake up every morning and you pick up your spoon and you head on over to that mountain and you bring a little bit of dirt back home with you. And you keep doing this, day after day, year after year, until one day you’re able to look back and say
“Hey, I did that. I made a dent. I made a change. And now there’s a mountain of dirt in my back yard that didn’t used to be there
and I can do anything that I want with it."

If that's what you really want to do, spend your life moving dirt with spoons well that's okay by me as long as it brings you joy. Just do the thing that brings you joy, do the thing that brings you joy and I'll keep playing ukulele and getting as many people as I can to sing with me:

REPEAT CHORUS
INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

Hug a friend who needs a hug, give yourself a little love so that you’ll have enough to go around and round and take the time to do what's right, no matter if it's day or night ‘cause all we have is what we choose,
and I choose to know that

REPEAT CHORUS

THEN:
PART OF GROUP CONTINUES CHORUS WHILE A SECOND PART OF GROUP SINGS THE OVERCHORUS AT THE SAME TIME.

OVERCHORUS:
Everything I do, everywhere I go, is a chance to love and a chance to grow (repeat)

CONTINUE based on audience participation. IMPROV ENDING TO OVERCHORUS AND REJOIN REGULAR CHORUS

REPEAT CHORUS TO END
